On Board Journals

Dream Journal:
I was recently at a Stampin Up! team training day where we had an entertaining and informative speaker, Jo Donson.
She encouraged us to get a pin board and start collecting and displaying things that we like and things that inspire us. It can be your dreams, it can be your favourite colours etc but basically it is all about you and it is a tool for discovering who you are and what makes you tick. I decided to put my collection (of things about me) in a journal so here is the one I created using the On Board Journal book from Stampin' Up!

Maltese Cross Journal
This journal I created for the Woman's Weekly craft book which was published last Christmas. I am showing it here with permission. It is a simple punch art made with punches from the blossom petal builder punch and a circle punch.

The black punched shapes are laid out in a cross shape and then strips of metallic silver card are laid over top. The flower is made from 8 petals glued onto a 3/4" circle shape with an antique brad inserted in the middle. Super quick and easy with a modern feel to it.

To create a nice smooth cover that fits around the holes of the spiral binding, I placed my cardstock next to the journal cover and put pencil marks where the holes needed to be punched. (You also need to measure how far in each hole needs to be punched and if you are using the hole punch on a crop-o-dile, set the depth guide to this measurement). I then made one cut from the edge of the card up to the hole. I used a bamboo skewer to help push the card into place as I glued each piece down around the spirals. When it was smoothed flat and adhered firmly, it was very hard to even see the cut lines.
My dream journal, however, was done with the retired spiral punch and the holes aren't as tidy.

Happy creating from Rhonda
